Overwatch 2 introduces its first hero of 2025, Freya, a crossbow-wielding bounty hunter. She will be available in Season 16, with players getting a chance to test her during a trial weekend in Season 15.
Freya’s Abilities
Freya has a unique playstyle centered around mobility and precision. Her basic attack allows her to rapidly shoot bolts at enemies, while her alternate fire delivers a high-speed explosive bolt for increased damage. She also features a Bola Shot ability that pulls enemies together, facilitating combos with teammates or powerful crossbow shots.
Movement plays a crucial role in her toolkit. Freya possesses a quick dash ability that reloads her crossbow and an ability called Updraft that launches her into the air. These skills emphasize her role as a challenging yet rewarding character.
Future Additions
In addition to Freya, Blizzard announced another hero named Aqua, a water-bending character set to join in Season 18. Details on Aqua’s abilities remain limited, with only concept art released so far.
Other Game Updates
Blizzard’s recent Overwatch 2 Spotlight stream also revealed the return of loot boxes in Season 15. A new gameplay system called Perks will be introduced, along with a round-based, third-person mode named Stadium, where players can buy items and upgrade their heroes during matches.
