Nationwide Protests Target Tesla Showrooms Over Elon Musk’s Leadership

Protests against Tesla CEO Elon Musk took place at numerous showrooms across the United States on February 15, 2025. These demonstrations, part of the #TeslaTakeover movement, aimed to express dissatisfaction with Musk’s leadership and his perceived influence on government.

Organized by activist groups including the Troublemakers and The Disruption Project, the protests featured signs with slogans such as „Stop the broligarchy“ and „Burn a Tesla, save democracy.“ Participants encouraged potential buyers to reconsider their support for Tesla.

Initially coordinated through social media platforms, the movement gained traction with over 50 planned protests nationwide, spanning locations from small towns to major cities like New York and San Francisco. Protesters varied in number, with some events drawing large crowds while others had only a few participants.

In addition to local demonstrations, the protests coincided with ongoing legal challenges against Musk’s actions related to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Recently, 14 state attorneys general filed a lawsuit questioning the legality of DOGE’s operations and Musk’s authority over federal funds.

Critics have accused Musk of aligning with alt-right figures and undermining democratic processes. Earlier protests occurred at international events, including the German Die Welt Economic Summit, where Musk’s participation was met with backlash.

The protests reflect a growing sentiment among some Tesla owners and activists who believe that supporting the company indirectly endorses Musk’s controversial actions. As these demonstrations unfold, they signify a broader movement against perceived corporate overreach and the intertwining of business with political influence.
