Nintendo Ends My Nintendo Gold Points Program

Nintendo has officially announced the discontinuation of its My Nintendo Gold Points rewards program, effective March 24, 2025. This program allowed users to earn virtual currency for purchases made on its eShop.

After March 24, no purchases, whether digital, physical, or made via eShop cards, will earn Gold Points. However, users can still redeem any remaining Gold Points for a period of twelve months after they are earned.

Gold Points can still be accumulated until the cutoff date, with existing rules remaining in place. Additionally, physical games released prior to March 24 will continue to be eligible for points even if registered after the deadline.

For eShop cards that previously promised Gold Points, Nintendo clarified that while users can still purchase and redeem these cards, no Gold Points will be earned from purchases made with them.

The reason behind this decision remains unspecified. However, it may be linked to the anticipated launch of the Switch 2 console later this year. Notably, Nintendo has also indicated that its Switch Game Vouchers will not be valid for titles on the upcoming console.
