Final Fantasy Characters Join Magic: The Gathering Arena

This summer, characters from Square Enix’s Final Fantasy series will be featured in a new set of trading cards for Magic: The Gathering Arena. The crossover includes notable heroes such as Cloud, Terra, Tidus, and Y’shtola.

Eight Commander cards will make their way to the digital platform, marking a rare addition of Commander cards to MTG Arena. The four face commanders include:

  • Cloud from Final Fantasy VII
  • Tidus from Final Fantasy X
  • Y’shtola from Final Fantasy XIV
  • Terra from Final Fantasy VI

While not every card from the Final Fantasy decks will be available digitally, the inclusion of these eight cards signifies a special occasion for the game. Wizards of the Coast has indicated that characters from every mainline Final Fantasy title will be represented in the set.

The Commander decks aim to retell stories from Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy XIV. Additionally, two new mechanics will be introduced through this collaboration, with further details expected in May.

The physical card decks are set to release on June 13, and preorders are currently available. However, the exact date for the debut of the Final Fantasy Commander cards in Magic: The Gathering Arena remains unconfirmed.
