Martin Scorsese’s Upcoming Crime Film Features DiCaprio and Johnson

Martin Scorsese is set to direct a new crime film featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Dwayne „The Rock“ Johnson, and Emily Blunt. This project follows Scorsese’s Oscar-nominated film, „Killers of the Flower Moon.“ The film’s concept, detailed by Deadline, revolves around a Hawaiian crime boss inspired by a real figure, similar to Robert De Niro’s character in „Goodfellas.“

The screenplay will be penned by Nick Bilton, who previously directed the documentary „Fake Famous.“ The narrative will explore a tumultuous period in Hawaii’s history, focusing on a mob boss’s struggle against rival factions for control of the islands‘ organized crime scene.

While DiCaprio has collaborated with Scorsese multiple times, this film will mark the first time Johnson and Blunt work with the acclaimed director. Johnson and Blunt reportedly brought the idea to Scorsese and DiCaprio, who then collaborated to bring Bilton on board.

This project will diverge from Scorsese’s recent work, which highlighted the experiences of Indigenous populations in the U.S. With Johnson’s childhood ties to Hawaii, his involvement may add depth to the film’s representation of the local culture.

For those interested in Scorsese’s previous work, „Killers of the Flower Moon“ is currently available for streaming on Apple TV+.
