Docker Postpones Hub Pull Limits and Suspends Storage Billing Plans

Docker has announced a delay in implementing its planned limits on image pulls from Docker Hub, moving the effective date from March 1, 2025, to April 1, 2025. Additionally, the company has adjusted its previously published quotas for users.

The changes come as part of Docker’s effort to maintain a reliable platform for developers. Unauthenticated users will face a limit of 10 image pulls per hour, while authenticated personal accounts, previously capped at 40 pulls, will now allow up to 100 pulls per hour. Paid subscribers will continue to enjoy unlimited pulls without any rate limits.

Initially, Docker intended to impose monthly pull limits for its Pro, Team, and Business accounts, but those plans have been put on hold. The company has also suspended its storage-based billing strategy indefinitely, indicating that it will focus on improving storage management tools before introducing any charges.

Docker’s shift in strategy follows a series of price increases for its subscription tiers over the past few years. The company aims to adapt its offerings to better serve its developer community while ensuring sustainable business practices.
