Meta Horizon Creator Fund Launched with $50 Million Investment

Meta has announced the launch of a $50 million fund aimed at creators within its Horizon Worlds platform. This initiative, titled the Meta Horizon Creator Fund, focuses on encouraging innovation and rewarding creators who contribute to the metaverse ecosystem.

Under the theme of „Shape what’s next,“ the fund will provide creators with new opportunities to create, monetize, and earn rewards through their contributions to Meta Horizon Worlds. This move indicates Meta’s ongoing commitment to its metaverse vision despite its increasing investments in artificial intelligence.

In conjunction with the fund, Meta has opened early access to the Meta Horizon Worlds desktop editor. This tool allows users to utilize advanced creation features that facilitate world-building for mobile, mixed reality, and web environments. The desktop editor supports TypeScript for complex game logic, custom model imports for enhanced world fidelity, and optimization tools to improve performance.

Additionally, the creator program will expand to include more countries and enhance monetization options. Creators can earn monthly bonuses, sell digital items, and participate in competitions for cash prizes. A notable upcoming event is the $1 million mobile creator competition, set to begin on March 11, 2025, themed „Mobile Genre Showdown.“ This competition will reward 30 creators for developing innovative mobile experiences.

Users can explore and interact with creator worlds through both the Meta Horizon and Facebook mobile applications, highlighting a growing interest in mobile engagement within the metaverse.
