Netflix has announced the continuation of the ‚Avatar: The Last Airbender‘ franchise with a new animated series and additional live-action seasons. The streaming platform confirmed that production for the second season of its live-action adaptation is currently underway.
The live-action series, which reimagines the beloved Nickelodeon animated show, has been renewed for two more seasons, with the third season expected to be its last. Although no release date has been provided, Netflix recently shared a blooper reel from the first season, offering fans a glimpse of behind-the-scenes moments.
In addition to the live-action series, Nickelodeon has ordered a new animated series titled ‚Avatar: Seven Havens‘. This 26-episode, 2D-animated series comes from the original creators of the series, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who previously left the Netflix adaptation due to creative differences. Set in a world devastated by a cataclysm, the new series follows a young Earthbender who discovers she is the new Avatar.
Meanwhile, an animated film featuring Aang is set to hit theaters on January 30, 2026. This film, produced by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, boasts a voice cast that includes Dave Bautista and Jessica Matten.
