Hyungjun Kim, the director of the upcoming life simulator InZoi, clarified that his game does not compete with The Sims. Instead, Kim views InZoi as an alternative for fans of the genre.
Since its launch 25 years ago, EA’s The Sims has dominated the life simulation market. However, Krafton’s InZoi is positioning itself as a serious contender, featuring more realistic characters compared to the cartoonish avatars of The Sims.
InZoi promises to deliver in-depth customization options and AI-driven creative tools. These features allow avatars to develop personalities and enable players to convert images of furniture into 3D models for in-game use.
The game was initially set for early access in late 2024 but has since been rescheduled for a PC release on March 28, 2025, with a console version to follow later.
During Gamescom, players experienced a preview build of InZoi, which showcased various gameplay elements, including the ability to become ghosts after an unexpected demise. Additionally, Krafton introduced the InZoi character studio tool on Steam for a limited time.
