Splitgate 2 is set to launch its open alpha on February 27, allowing players to explore new gameplay features and maps. Among the highlights is the expansive Glacier map, designed for up to three teams in 8v8v8 competition.
The Glacier map is significantly larger than previous maps, boasting icy slopes that facilitate rapid movement through portal mechanics. This new environment promises dynamic gameplay and strategic opportunities for players.
In addition to Glacier, the open alpha will include two other maps:
- Bypass (4v4) – A vertical map emphasizing aerial maneuvers.
- Eden (4v4) – Features numerous portal walls and a launch portal for advanced tactics.
Cross-play will be supported across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players can engage in modes such as Multi-Team Domination, where teams compete for control of zones, and Multi-Team Hotzone, focusing on a central contested area.
New game modes will also debut during the alpha. Splitball combines elements of Capture the Flag with strategic gameplay, while Firecracker is inspired by Search-and-Destroy mechanics, tasking one team with deploying a firecracker while the other defends against it.
Developers 1047 Games have indicated that the open alpha will showcase less than half of the total content planned for Splitgate 2, which is expected to launch later this year.
