Lenovo Unveils Innovative ThinkBook Flip Laptop with Foldable Display

Lenovo has introduced the ThinkBook „codename Flip“ at Mobile World Congress, showcasing a unique productivity laptop that features a flexible display. This device can function as a traditional 13.1-inch clamshell, a folded 12.9-inch tablet, or a laptop with an impressive 18.1-inch vertical screen.

The ThinkBook Flip utilizes the same OLED panel as the upcoming ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, expected to launch in June. Unlike its predecessor, the Flip’s display folds behind the main screen, eliminating the need for motors. This design innovation allows for an additional 0.4 inches of screen space compared to the Gen 6.

When in clamshell mode, the Flip can mirror or extend its display, making it suitable for presentations without requiring external monitors. The standout feature is the ability to flip the screen up, providing users with a high-resolution 2000 x 2664 OLED display, perfect for viewing long documents or websites.

Another notable aspect is the Smart ForcePad trackpad. It includes three layers of LED-illuminated touch shortcuts, enabling functions like a number pad and app launchers directly from the trackpad.

Though the ThinkBook Flip remains in the concept stage, Lenovo has outlined potential specifications, including an Intel Ultra 7 processor, 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM, PCIe SSD storage, and Thunderbolt 4 ports. A fingerprint reader is also expected.

Initial prototypes of the Flip have shown promise, although they still require refinement. The lack of motors may allow Lenovo to offer this model at a more competitive price compared to the rollable ThinkBook Plus Gen 6.
