Lenovo has introduced its latest concept laptop, known as the ThinkBook codename Flip AI PC, at MWC 2025. This device showcases a flexible OLED display that expands from 13 inches to an impressive 18.1 inches, providing users with enhanced screen real estate for multitasking.
The Flip’s design allows the screen to fold outward, a departure from the rollable screen technology seen in its predecessor, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable. This approach utilizes the full area of the display, unlike the previous model, which could only extend to 16.7 inches.
In addition to the unique screen, the Flip features a Smart ForcePad. This touchpad includes a three-layer illuminated dashboard that allows for customizable controls and icons, enhancing user interaction beyond standard touchpad capabilities.
Equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB of RAM, and PCIe SSD storage, the Flip promises solid performance. However, it remains a prototype, and Lenovo has acknowledged that several issues need to be addressed before any potential release.
Concerns include the stability of the hinge, which currently does not adequately support the tall screen. Additionally, the design exposes the flexible display to potential scratches when the laptop is closed. Lenovo has not announced plans for mass production of the Flip, focusing instead on refining the concept.
This innovative approach to flexible-screen laptops demonstrates Lenovo’s commitment to exploring new technologies, even at the prototype stage. For more information, visit Engadget.
