Singaporean authorities have arrested three individuals for allegedly smuggling Nvidia chips, amidst heightened scrutiny over China’s attempts to acquire advanced technology. The arrests, reported by Channel News Asia, involve two Singaporean nationals and one Chinese citizen.
The suspects face charges related to fraud concerning a shipment of servers. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the servers, manufactured by Dell and Supermicro, contained restricted Nvidia chips and were diverted from their intended destination in Malaysia.
Nvidia’s recent financial disclosures indicate that Singapore accounted for 18% of the company’s revenue for fiscal year 2025, although actual shipments to the country were significantly lower, comprising less than 2% of total sales. Dell has confirmed that it maintains a strict trade compliance program and actively investigates any non-compliance by customers.
