Bungie Launches Rite of the Nine Event for Destiny 2 Players

Bungie has announced the launch of the Rite of the Nine, a limited-time event in Destiny 2 that will feature three of its dungeons: Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher, and Ghosts of the Deep. This event will rotate the dungeons weekly, offering players a fresh experience throughout its duration.

Event Modes and Challenges

The Rite of the Nine introduces three unique modes: Ultimatum, Explorer, and Eternity. These modes will significantly affect how players approach each dungeon. Players will aim for a high score, which is determined by the number of deaths encountered during the dungeon run. Staying alive will lead to better loot drops at the end of each encounter.

Ultimatum mode is designed for seasoned players seeking an extra challenge. It raises the power level to match the game’s most difficult content, similar to Contest mode. Activity modifiers will enhance the experience, requiring players to strategize before entering dungeons.

Explorer Mode for New Players

Explorer mode caters to newcomers who may not have experience with dungeons. This mode allows players to learn mechanics at a comfortable pace, featuring in-world tooltips and markers for guidance. Additionally, there will be shorter Darkness phases and a five-second revive timer to minimize penalties for failure.

Rewards and New Features

During the event, players will interact with the Emissary, the event vendor, who will provide quests, bounties, and rewards. Participants can earn four unique weapons from each dungeon, featuring reworked perk pools and new perks. Adept versions of these weapons, which include enhanced perks and a visual makeover, will only drop in Ultimatum mode.

Furthermore, a new event-exclusive Origin Perk called Gravity Well will be available on all weapons during the event. Details about its functionality remain limited, but it will be exclusive to the Rite of the Nine.
