The release of Cities: Skylines II on consoles has been postponed, with developers announcing it won’t arrive before summer 2024. Originally slated for an October 2023 launch on PC, the console version faced delays and is still under development.
Developer Colossal Order has acknowledged the community’s anticipation for the game. However, an official post from publisher Paradox Interactive confirmed that the team is not ready to launch on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
The studio aims to ensure a polished experience, stating that they want to avoid setting premature expectations regarding the release timeline. Alongside the console release, the planned asset editor for the game is also not yet ready, as technical issues are being addressed to improve game performance and stability.
Since the announcement of the sequel, the relationship between the community and developers has been strained due to various technical setbacks and a challenging first DLC rollout. The hope is that as the game approaches a stable release, tensions will ease on both sides.
