Apple Expands News+ with Extensive Recipe Collection

Apple plans to enhance its News+ service by introducing a dedicated Food section, set to launch with iOS 18.4 and iPadOS 18.4 in April. This section will feature tens of thousands of recipes and articles focused on healthy eating, restaurants, and kitchen essentials.

The content will be sourced from leading food publishers, including Allrecipes, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, Good Food, and Serious Eats. Notably absent is The New York Times, which maintains its own subscription-based Cooking app.

Non-subscribers will have limited access to some recipes and articles, serving as a preview aimed at encouraging full subscriptions. Daily updates will enrich the Recipe Catalog, allowing users to browse, search, and filter through the extensive library.

Apple’s new format simplifies the process of reviewing ingredients and directions. Users can also access step-by-step instructions in full-screen mode, similar to a lyrics display in Apple Music. Furthermore, recipes can be saved for offline use, beneficial for those who prefer to plan meals without internet access.
