Blizzard Confirms No New Diablo IV Expansion Until 2026

The next major expansion for Diablo IV is set to release in 2026, as announced by Blizzard’s franchise general manager Rod Fergusson during the DICE Summit in Las Vegas. This news follows the launch of the game’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, which debuted in October after a 17-month wait since the game’s initial release.

Blizzard plans to reveal a roadmap for 2025 ahead of Season 8, but it will not include information about the upcoming expansion. Specific details regarding the release date within 2026 remain undisclosed.

The original strategy aimed for annual expansions, akin to the early model of Destiny 2. However, the timeline shifted after Vessel of Hatred was delayed by nearly six months due to necessary bug fixes and community feedback. Maintaining a live-service game presents ongoing challenges.

While the next season of Diablo IV is scheduled to launch in April, players can anticipate teasers for the subsequent expansion later in the year. The promotional campaign for Vessel of Hatred began in 2023, indicating a similar marketing strategy may be employed for future content.
