Cynthia Erivo, an acclaimed actress and Tony Award winner, will host the upcoming Tony Awards on June 8, 2025, at Radio City Music Hall. The announcement came from the American Theater Wing and the Broadway League.
Erivo gained prominence for her role as Celie in the Broadway revival of “The Color Purple,” earning a Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in 2016. Recently, she has garnered attention for her performance as Elphaba in the film adaptation of “Wicked,” which has also earned her an Oscar nomination.
This year’s Tony Awards will honor productions that opened between April 26, 2024, and April 27, 2025. The nominees will be revealed on May 1.
In addition to her hosting duties, Erivo will star as Jesus in a revival of “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Hollywood Bowl in August.
