Bungie has unveiled a new limited-time PvP mode for Destiny 2 called Heavy Metal, set to debut in the upcoming Heresy Act 3. This mode allows players to engage in vehicle combat, specifically featuring Brigs and Drake Tanks.
In Heavy Metal, teams of six will battle in a vehicle-centric arena. For the first time, players will have the opportunity to pilot Brigs, which have been part of the game for over five years but previously inaccessible to players. Drake Tanks will also see enhanced capabilities, including the ability to perform rocket-boosted backflips.
The mode will be available for a limited time, with Bungie suggesting that positive player feedback could lead to its inclusion in the regular Crucible rotation. This would align it with other popular modes like Mayhem, known for its chaotic gameplay.
While an official release date for Heavy Metal has not been announced, it is confirmed to launch alongside Heresy Act 3 on April 1. Additional content revealed during the developer livestream includes a limited-time dungeon event titled Rite of the Nine and the return of the planet Io.
