Fantasy Life i Receives Major Updates Following Development Challenges

Level-5 has announced significant updates for Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time after feedback from internal playtests and the departure of producer Keiji Inafune. The game, a successor to the popular Nintendo 3DS RPG, has faced multiple delays and is now scheduled for release on May 21, 2025.

Inafune, known for his work on the Mega Man franchise, left Level-5 last summer amid criticism of the game’s initial development. This prompted a reassessment of the project, leading to a broader collaboration among Level-5’s studios across Japan, rather than relying solely on the Osaka team.

The overhaul includes:

  • Open-world exploration
  • Parkour mechanics
  • Cross-play functionality
  • Cross-save options

Improvements also extend to the user interface, story, and progression systems. Following these revisions, the game has received more favorable feedback during testing.

As a result of the changes, Level-5 is optimistic about meeting the upcoming release date. However, the company has announced a slight delay for Inazuma Eleven Victory Road due to the ongoing developments with Fantasy Life i. A new release date for Inazuma Eleven will be revealed during a livestream on April 11.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
