Rockstar Games has released a long-awaited update for PC players of Grand Theft Auto V, aligning their experience with that of console players. This update, announced last month, brings features that have been exclusive to the latest console generation for several years.
The update is available as a free download for existing owners of the game. The original version of GTA V has been removed from PC storefronts, replaced by the new Expanded & Enhanced edition. This new version includes a copy of the previous Legacy edition, allowing players to migrate both Story Mode and Online progress.
Key improvements in this update include:
- Technical enhancements that mirror those found on consoles
- PC-specific ray tracing features, contingent on meeting recommended specifications
- Minor content additions such as ambient wildlife, photography challenges, and new vehicles
- Access to the GTA+ subscription service
Rockstar has been actively updating its GTA franchise, having previously released remastered versions of Grand Theft Auto III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas. With high expectations for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI, fans are eager to see how the franchise continues to evolve.
