The iPhone 16e has officially launched, offering consumers a budget-friendly option within the iPhone 16 family. While it boasts wireless charging capabilities, it notably lacks support for MagSafe charging, a feature found in other modern iPhone models.
Wireless charging on the iPhone 16e is compatible with Qi technology, allowing for charging speeds of up to 7.5W. However, it does not support the newer Qi2 standard. The device houses a battery estimated at 3,279mAh, which is slightly less than the mainline iPhone 16’s 3,561mAh battery. Despite this, Apple claims the 16e offers the best battery life among 6.1-inch iPhones, reportedly lasting 12 hours longer than any previous iPhone SE model.
In addition to wireless charging, the iPhone 16e supports wired charging through USB-C, marking a shift from the traditional Lightning connector. Users can enhance charging speed by using a higher-watt charger, although this approach might not always be optimal for battery longevity.
Starting at $599, the iPhone 16e is positioned as a more affordable alternative within the iPhone lineup, yet its lack of MagSafe and Qi2 compatibility raises questions about its value in the current market.
