Jam City has finalized the sale of its Montreal-based Ludia mobile game studio to a consortium of Canadian institutional investors. Although not actively seeking a sale, Jam City received a compelling offer that led to the decision.
The sale of Ludia, one of Jam City’s ten global studios, is not expected to significantly affect the company’s overall operations. Jam City continues to prioritize its core portfolio, which includes popular casual narrative and puzzle-style titles, alongside a robust pipeline of upcoming game releases for 2025 and 2026.
Approximately 130 employees from Ludia will transition to new leadership under CEO Jimmy Gendron, with the studio maintaining its operations independently from its Montreal headquarters. A small number of Ludia employees who primarily support Jam City titles will remain with the parent company.
Both parties have reached an agreement in principle, pending review by the Canadian Competition Bureau. Jam City originally acquired Ludia in September 2021 for $165 million. Under Jam City, Ludia launched several successful games, including the match-3 puzzle RPG, DC Heroes & Villains, and titles like DreamWorks Dragons: Titan Uprising and Jurassic World: Alive.
