Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 is currently underway in Barcelona, showcasing the latest innovations from leading tech manufacturers. Major announcements include new laptops, smartphones, and AI advancements in Android.
Lenovo Innovations
Lenovo has emerged as a standout participant at this year’s event, unveiling several new laptops. Among them is the ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1, featuring a design inspired by the Yoga lineup, equipped with a 14-inch 400-nit WUXGA touch display. The company also introduced the ThinkPad X13 Gen 6, touted as one of the lightest designs in the ThinkPad series.
Additionally, Lenovo showcased its Yoga Solar PC Concept, which utilizes solar cells to harness energy efficiently. This laptop can charge sufficiently in just 20 minutes to play an hour of videos. Other notable concepts include the Magic Bay Dual Display and a prototype laptop with a flexible display that expands from 13 inches to 18.1 inches.
Samsung’s New Offerings
Samsung focused on its midrange and budget smartphones at MWC. The Galaxy A56 features a 6.7-inch display and a revamped camera system, including a 50MP main sensor and AI-powered editing features. Pre-orders for the A56 are available in the UK, priced at $499, with a release date set for March 19.
Other models announced include the Galaxy A36 5G and A26 5G, both offering a 120Hz display and IP67 rating. These models, however, come with lower RAM and different processors compared to the A56.
Xiaomi’s Photography Focus
Xiaomi introduced the 15 Ultra smartphone, which emphasizes photography capabilities. It features a 1-inch 50MP main sensor and a 200MP periscope lens for enhanced optical zoom. The device supports Google services and runs on HyperOS 2, an Android skin. The Ultra 15 starts at approximately €1,499.
Google’s AI Advancements
Google announced new AI features for Android, including a Live Video function that allows users to interact with the camera feed using the Gemini chatbot. Another feature enables screensharing, offering users the ability to ask questions about their device’s display. These features will first be available to Gemini Advanced subscribers.
