Kia has announced the launch of its new EV4 sedan and hatchback, promising impressive range figures for an affordable electric vehicle. This announcement took place during Kia’s 2025 EV day event in Spain, where the company also introduced the EV2, an urban-focused small electric SUV concept.
The EV4 sedan, initially introduced as a concept in 2023, will be available in two versions. One features a traditional four-door design, while the other adopts a five-door hatchback style aimed primarily at the European market. Both versions will be single-motor front-wheel drive vehicles with a power output of 150kW, achieving a 0-62 mph acceleration in as little as 7.4 seconds.
Utilizing a 400-volt version of Kia’s E-GMP platform, the EV4 can charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 31 minutes. The range is expected to be noteworthy, with estimates of up to 630km (about 391 miles) on a single charge with the larger 81.4 kWh battery, and 430km (about 267 miles) with the smaller 58.3 kWh battery. These figures are based on Europe’s WLTP standards.
The EV4 will also feature advanced technology, including a 30-inch widescreen display that integrates Kia’s latest connected car software. Users can access entertainment options such as YouTube and Netflix, along with an AI voice assistant and advanced driver-assistance systems.
The EV4 sedan will initially be produced in Korea, launching in mid-March, while the hatchback will be manufactured in Slovakia and debut in Europe later in 2024. The North American version is expected to follow later in the year. Pricing for the EV4 will start at 37,000 euros (approximately $38,500), with an initial production run of 160,000 units, including 80,000 for North America.
With the introduction of the EV4, Kia aims to provide a competitive option in the affordable electric vehicle market, particularly against established models like the Tesla Model 3.
