Mado Monogatari: Fia and the Wondrous Academy will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC later this year. This marks the latest entry in the Mado Monogatari series, renowned for inspiring the popular Puyo Puyo puzzle games.
The game features a top-down dungeon crawling experience where players control Fia, exploring randomly generated dungeons, battling iconic Puyo blobs, collecting treasures, and leveling up skills. A magic academy serves as a town hub, allowing players to interact with NPCs, engage in minigames, and craft weapons.
Players can expect English and French text options, alongside Japanese voice acting. Currently, the standard edition is the only version announced, with physical copies available for Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PS4. Digital preorders are also accessible through the PlayStation Store, Switch eShop, and Steam.
The Mado Monogatari series began in 1990 on the MSX and PC-98, originally as a first-person dungeon crawler. Over the years, it has adopted various styles, with Fia and the Wondrous Academy featuring a top-down Mystery Dungeon gameplay approach. This upcoming title is only the second in the series to receive an English localization, following Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God, which was released in North America in 2014.
