Monster Hunter Wilds has made a significant impact on the gaming community by becoming the fifth highest title for peak concurrent players on Steam. Over the weekend, the action-adventure game saw more than 1.3 million players online simultaneously, setting a new benchmark for the franchise.
Steam itself reached a record of over 40 million users online at once, with a peak of 40,263,524 users recorded on Sunday. This surge in activity highlights the growing popularity of the platform and the game.
Monster Hunter Wilds, which launched on February 28, quickly surpassed previous records set by its predecessor, Monster Hunter World, which peaked at 300,000 concurrent players. The new title now ranks behind only PUBG, Black Myth: Wukong, Palworld, and Counter-Strike 2 in Steam’s all-time concurrent player statistics.
Despite its impressive launch, some players have reported performance issues, leading to mixed reviews on Steam. Nonetheless, the game’s release attracted more players than notable titles like Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077 on their respective launch days.
