Monster Hunter Wilds Character Customization Comes at a Cost

Monster Hunter Wilds has introduced a character customization system that requires players to pay for changes beyond the initial setup. Players receive one free edit voucher at the start, allowing them to modify their character or Palico’s appearance. However, subsequent changes will incur a fee of at least $6.99, which includes three vouchers for further customization.

Palico edit vouchers follow the same pricing structure, with a three-pack available for $9.99. Unlike previous entries in the series, there are no in-game methods to earn these vouchers through gameplay. Players can make minor adjustments, such as changing makeup or clothing, without a voucher while in their tent, but significant alterations are restricted.

This decision has drawn criticism from long-time players, who find it frustrating that Capcom continues to monetize character customization. Despite the game featuring a variety of attractive outfits available for free swapping, the restriction on character edits remains a point of contention.

Since its launch on Steam, over a million players have engaged with Monster Hunter Wilds, not including console users. Players are encouraged to finalize their character’s look early in the game to avoid additional costs later on.
