Nintendo Switch 2 Excludes Game Vouchers and Ends Gold Points Program

Nintendo has confirmed that its Game Vouchers will not be valid for exclusive titles on the upcoming Switch 2. This announcement comes as anticipation builds for the new console, which has yet to reveal its pricing.

The Game Voucher program, previously available to Nintendo Switch Online members, allowed users to purchase two vouchers for $100, usable on select games. This change raises concerns among players about potential price increases for first-party games, especially as competitors like Sony and Microsoft have raised their game prices to $70.

Additionally, Nintendo will discontinue the My Nintendo Gold Points program on March 24. This program enabled users to earn points from both digital and physical purchases, which could be redeemed for future transactions. Nintendo assures that all earned Gold Points will remain valid and redeemable for 12 months after issuance.

Details regarding the status of the My Nintendo “Platinum” points program remain unclear. This program rewarded users for engaging with mobile games and other activities, allowing them to redeem points for digital and physical items.
