Over 20 DOGE Employees Resign Amid Musk’s Leadership Changes

More than 20 employees from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) resigned on February 25, 2025, in protest against Elon Musk’s management of federal services. This group, which includes technologists with backgrounds at major tech companies like Google and Amazon, accounted for approximately one-third of the U.S. Digital Service, which Musk rebranded as DOGE after assuming control.

The employees stated they could no longer support Musk’s technological overhaul, citing concerns over the integrity of government systems and the handling of sensitive data. Their resignation follows Musk’s previous dismissal of around 40 digital service staffers.

In a joint resignation letter addressed to the White House, the departing employees emphasized their commitment to serving the American people and upholding constitutional duties. They argued that recent actions taken by DOGE, including the firing of technical experts and mishandling of data, contradict the office’s mission to enhance federal technology.

The resignation also followed reports of unauthorized visitors entering Digital Services offices, questioning employees about their political views and expertise, raising alarms about security breaches.

In response to the mass resignations, the White House dismissed the criticisms, asserting that protests and legal actions would not deter Musk’s objectives of improving governmental efficiency.
