Developers behind the popular Metro franchise have rebranded themselves as Reburn and announced their upcoming game, La Quimera. This marks a significant shift for the team, which previously operated under the name 4A Games Ukraine.
La Quimera is a story-driven sci-fi first-person shooter set in a fictional Latin American megalopolis and its surrounding jungles. Players will take on the role of a private military company (PMC) navigating this new environment, equipped with advanced technology and weaponry.
The game, which is available to wishlist on Steam, currently lacks a specific release date. It will offer both single-player and co-op modes, allowing players to team up with up to two friends.
Reburn aims to explore themes of technological advancement and societal progress, shifting away from the post-apocalyptic narratives that characterized the Metro series. The studio collaborated with filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn and writer E.J.A. Warren to develop the game, which promises to challenge players‘ perceptions of modern realities.
In terms of branding, Reburn’s CEO, Dmytro Lymar, stated that the name change was necessary to eliminate confusion with another studio also using the 4A Games name. The new name, Reburn, symbolizes a rebirth and a fresh start for the team as they embark on this new project.
Reburn has over 110 developers, many of whom are former members of the Metro series team. The studio is self-publishing La Quimera but remains open to potential partnerships with publishers.
