Takaya Imamura, a former game designer at Nintendo, has revealed that even after retiring, he continued to dream about working with Shigeru Miyamoto. Imamura spent over three decades at Nintendo, starting in 1989, where he designed characters for popular games like F-Zero and Star Fox.
After announcing his retirement in 2021, Imamura experienced dreams where he was still developing games alongside Miyamoto. These dreams persisted for about six months post-retirement, leading Imamura to wake up puzzled about his work status.
Despite stepping away from Nintendo, Imamura remains active in the gaming industry. He is currently working on a new project titled Omega 6: The Triangle Stars, which is set to release on February 28 for the Nintendo Switch and PC. This game is based on a manga he both wrote and illustrated.
In Omega 6, Imamura designed most of the characters, while his students contributed designs for four characters. This project marks a new chapter for Imamura as he transitions from game development to teaching.
