Ubisoft Teases Major Update for Rainbow Six Siege with New Operator

Ubisoft has announced a significant update for Rainbow Six Siege, set to be revealed on March 13 during the Siege X Showcase in Atlanta, Georgia. This update is described as the game’s „biggest transformation“ yet, promising enhancements in graphics and audio, alongside deeper tactical gameplay.

A new operator named Rauora will also be introduced. Hailing from New Zealand, Rauora is characterized as an attacker with defensive capabilities. Players can expect to access Rauora at the start of Year 10 Season 1 through the Operation Prep Phase battle pass, with the option to unlock her using Renown or R6 credits after a two-week period.

Rauora’s primary weapons include the 417 marksman rifle or the M249 light machine gun, while her secondary options are the GSH-18 9mm pistol or the new Reaper MK2 machine pistol, which features a red dot sight and an extended magazine. Her unique gadget, the Deployable Omnilink Mesh Launcher (DOM), acts as a smart bulletproof barrier that can be deployed in doorways. This gadget allows ally drones to pass through while blocking enemy movement.

When deployed, DOM provides strategic advantages for attackers, as defenders are temporarily locked out. The barrier can be opened by shooting a trigger at the top, and while it is resistant to bullets, it remains vulnerable to explosions. Additionally, it cannot bypass Castle’s reinforced barricades or Tubarão’s Zoto Canister effects.

Since its launch in 2015, Rainbow Six Siege has evolved as a premier live-service game for Ubisoft, featuring cross-play and enhanced anti-cheat measures. Despite speculation about a sequel, the game’s creative director affirmed its longevity, indicating ongoing support for its player base.
